This page is dedicated to the US 90MM M1A1 Anti-Aircraft Gun that entered production in 1940 and was accepted into service in May of 1941.  It was the primary medium/heavy AA gun of the war with production topping at 1000 per month.  In 1942 the Army issued requirements for the mount to be modified to make the gun more suitable for the dual role of Anti-Aircraft and Anti-Tank by making the gun depress a further 10 degrees and providing a distinctive crew shield for AT work.

Air Defense Artillery Museum, Fort Bliss, TX provides an excellent research facility for Anti-aircraft weapons since World War One.

This view is of the gun in trail mode on the snow/mud mount.

Here is a view of the crew working the gun showing the fuse setting operation prior to loading.  Note the small foot supporting the middle of the platform.  The quad wheel bogie is to the left.

The picture below illustrates the modifications necessary to the GHQ 88mm Gun's cruciform base in order to conform as closely as possible to the 90mm gun's base.

The picture below illustrates the finished 90mm Gun in the anti-tank mode.  The crew figures were made by GHQ modified and painted by ComOpsCtr staff.

The picture below illustrates the 90mm gun in the towed position behind its normal High Speed tractor prime mover made from parts of GHQ and CinC vehicles.

Here you can see both the towed and set-up versions of the 90mm Gun in a 1/285th scale conversion from the German 88mm AA gun by GHQ.  This picture features a GHQ truck as the prime mover.
