Opposition Forces (OPFOR)

Unidentified Terrorists:

As of 15 May 2008 the individuals responsible for the bombings, the other attacks, and their sponsoring organization have not been identified.  The acts of violence against the US Military presence, the UNHCR, and the Bosnian people have been conducted sporadically since January 2008, with steadily increasing frequency and violence since the beginning of December 2007.

In the cases of suicide bombings the individuals directly responsible have been identified, but all appear to be low level operatives whose involvement comes out of need, not from a political  point of view.  All the individuals who have been shown to be the drivers of vehicles or who wore the explosive devices had recently received a large sum of cash from an unknown source.

Law enforcement officials have been unable to trace the source of the funds, though speculation indicates an outside interest is responsible.

With the introduction of the 15th Panzer Grenadiers into Jablanica area there were considerably fewer attacks on Military personnel due to the harshness with which the German troops dealt with local dissidents.  Because of the memories of WW2 and the atrocities committed by Hitler's forces in the Balkans there were initially many attacks by Serb Nationalists but the local commander hunted down the perpetrators and the number of attacks has dwindled.  The German commanders policy of moving Serbs out of the area has also influenced the number of attacks and the level of unrest.

Within the last 5 days information has surfaced indicating stepped up attacks on Route 17.  The name of Drago Mustafa has been mentioned by many local informants as a person of interest.  Mustafa has recently left the Mostar area, where he was thought to be responsible for the stepped bombing campaign aimed at British forces in the Mostar area.  His headquarters was destroyed when a bomb they were working on exploded while it was being assembled.  The remains of 9 individuals were found in the ruins of the building thought to be Mustafa's headquarters.  Mustafa was not among the dead, but most of his command and control personnel were found, as well as his team of bomb (VBIED)makers.

Mustafa has friends in Jablanica.  One reportedly lives in an apartment on Government Square, though the address is not known, as well as a suspected residence just south of Jablanica on the East side of the river.   Mustafa is strongly connected to the local Serbian Resistance faction.  His shadowy organization has not actually claimed responsibility for and of their actions, which are to be considered criminal in nature and subject to arrest with any force necessary.  Only 6 to 8 individuals appear to remain within this cell which includes at least two women.

Above is the actual suspected location of Drago Mustafa.  It is located on post within the Shugart Gordon complex.

This miniature is a representation of a portion of the Shugart Gordon MOUT facility.  It would be possible to conduct a live operation using the table top simulation as a basis for the interaction with an HVT at one of the locations indicated.  This small community is indicated on the map on the friendly forces page of this site at Grid Ref: 2249/3665

Bosnian forces:

The Bosnian military has received additional M-60A3 tanks with second generation thermal sights and 3rd generation laser designators.  Additional M-113ACAV APCs have also been provided to replace the recent losses of this armored transport caused by the upsurge in terrorist activity.

This miniature simulation indicates an area suitable for helicopter insertions very near the buildings allegedly occupied by the terrorist organization.  The areas (hexes) immediately adjacent are heavily wooded and unsuitable for an LZ.

Note the three arrows on the map.  The arrow link marked "A" will direct you to the force from the 107th Cavalry that begins their day on the road north of Jablanica.  The arrow link marked "C" will take you to a description of the American supply convoy.  The arrow marked "B" is presently unknown to you, but will play a part in the simulation.

The above location indicate the start positions of the columns in question at 0630 Zulu on the day of the simulation.
